Buttermilk Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup Recipe

My family-favorite Buttermilk Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup recipe has been tested for years! Simple homemade buttermilk syrup on fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Buttery and sweet, it's the perfect weekend breakfast for the family.   

– Buttermilk Pancake – 2 cups all-purpose flour – 3 tablespoons granulated sugar – 2 teaspoons baking powder – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 2 large egg – 4 tablespoons salted butter melted – 3 cups buttermilk – Buttermilk Syrup – 1 cup granulated sugar – 1 cup buttermilk – 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – ½ teaspoon baking soda

Make pancakes Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl. Whisk with wire.

Mix eggs, melted butter, and buttermilk in a smaller basin. Pour the wet components into the dry ingredients and whisk gently with a spoon or spatula until no flour pockets remain.

Pour individual pancakes onto a 350° griddle using a ⅓ cup measuring cup. You can also use a stovetop skillet pan over medium-high heat.

Once the pancake has bubbles, flip it and cook the second side for a few minutes till softly golden brown.

If you want, you can put some butter on top of each pancake, and serve them with a spoonful of the buttermilk syrup.

Make Buttermilk Syrup Add sugar, buttermilk, and butter to a large saucepan or soup pot over medium-high heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, whisking occasionally, until it boils.

Step 6

Add vanilla essence and baking soda to boiling water and lower heat. Mix with a whisk. Instantly serve over buttermilk pancakes.
