The Best Salmon Marinade Recipe

The only salmon marinade you need! This simple recipe works for any fish or chicken. Great for grilled or baked salmon!

– 4 Tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce – 3 Tbsp rice vinegar – 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup – 2 Tbsp avocado oil – 1 Tbsp garlic powder

Whisk all salmon marinade ingredients in a small bowl or measuring cup until combined. Blend the marinade with a Magic Bullet or NutriBullet.

Step 1

Marinate 1–2 pounds of salmon. You can double, triple, or quadruple the marinade depending on how much fish you're cooking.

Step 2

Put the raw salmon and 1/3 cup of marinade per pound in a large zip lock bag. I use 1-gallon ziplocks. For two pounds of fish, use all the marinade; for one pound, use half. Remove excess air before sealing the zip lock bag.

Step 3

Put marinated salmon in the fridge. How long to marinate salmon depends on time and flavour. I recommend marinating salmon for 1–3 hours.

Step 4

Marinade salmon for an hour or more for best results. Start with 15 minutes of salmon marinade. Salmon can marinate for up to 12 hours, but for best results, cook it within 12 hours.

Step 5

Use your preferred method to cook salmon. See above blog post for grilling, baking, searing, air frying, and more!
