The Best Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe


You'll never need another chocolate cake recipe! Very wet and delicious. Chocoholics will love it with my Best Chocolate Frosting!


– 1 ¾ cup 250g all-purpose flour – ⅔ cup 56g cocoa powder (I prefer this one) – 1 teaspoon baking powder – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1 cup 200g granulated sugar – ½ cup 110g packed light brown sugar – ¾ teaspoon salt – 2 large egg – ½ cup 120ml vegetable oil (I prefer sunflower oil) – ¾ cup 180ml sour cream – 1 teaspoon 5ml pure vanilla extract – 1 cup 240ml hot coffee



Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 8-inch round cake pans and line with parchment. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder, and soda into a large bowl.


Step 1

Combine salt and sugar, removing brown sugar lumps. In a medium bowl, combine eggs, oil, sour cream, and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients bowl and blend with medium-low electric hand mixer


Step 2

Dry, thick. Add hot coffee twice and whisk until smooth to avoid clumps. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 30-33 minutes until cakes bounce back and a spear inserted into the center comes out clean. 


Step 3

After 15 minutes, invert pans on wire racks to finish cooling. Frost cakes with my BEST Chocolate Fudge Frosting!
