Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe

Homemade Sweet and Sour Chicken! Sweet and tangy, this chicken is wonderful. Who needs takeaway when you can make this at home?  

– 1 pound chicken breast – ¾ cup cornstarch – oil for frying – 3 eggs  – ¼ teaspoon salt – ½ teaspoon pepper – ¾ cup sugar – 4 tablespoon ketchup – ½ cup vinegar – 1 tablespoon soy sauce – 1 teaspoon garlic powder – ½ teaspoon red pepper flake



Turn the oven on to 325°F. Apply cooking spray to a 9×13 baking dish. Add salt and pepper to the chicken to season it.

Make sure that every piece of chicken is coated in cornflour by lightly tossing the chicken after you've sprinkled it with the flour.

Make sure the chicken is thoroughly coated with egg by dipping a few pieces of it into the mixture and gently tossing it around.

In a big skillet, heat up ¼ cup of oil at first. A few pieces of chicken at a time should be added and cooked for one to two minutes, or until just golden.

This will need to be completed in batches. After transferring the chicken to a plate covered with paper towels, drain any extra oil.

In a large basin, whisk together all the sauce ingredients to produce the sweet and sour sauce.

Place chicken pieces in baking dish, pour ⅔ to ¾ of sauce over them, and toss to cover each piece.

For a total of forty-five minutes, bake the chicken, flipping it over every fifteen minutes.
