Scrub asparagus. To remove debris, rinse asparagus under cool water. Dry the spears gently with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
1
Bend each asparagus spear by the tough end until it snaps naturally. This removes wood. Alternatively, use a sharp knife to cut the ends 1-2 inches.
2
Consider using a vegetable peeler to remove tough outer skin from the lower stem of thick asparagus.
3
In a large nonstick skillet, heat olive oil on medium-high. Sauté asparagus. Frying asparagus takes 3–4 minutes.
4
Stir frequently for even cooking. Bright green, tender asparagus is desired.Add peas and cook for 1-2 minutes.
5
In the event that you are using frozen peas, you can temporarily defrost them by placing them in a bowl of warm water before you begin.
6
Salt, black pepper, and lime juice can be added. Serve warm sautéed asparagus and peas as a side.
7
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and lemon juice on top for flavour. Enjoy!
