Maple Candied Brussels Sprouts with Bacon Recipe

Served with bacon, maple-glazed Brussels sprouts are a simple side meal that will turn anyone into a sprout lover.  

– 1/2 pound thick cut smoked bacon – 1.5 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed – 2 Tbsp maple syrup – salt and pepper to taste

Heat the oven to 350F. Roast bacon on an ungreased baking sheet for 20 minutes until crisp. Drain bacon on paper towels and conserve fat.

Finely cut and reserve cooled bacon. Heat the oven to 375F. Coat the sprouts evenly with 2 Tbsp of the reserved bacon fat, maple syrup, and a dash of salt. 

Step 3

Spread them out on the same baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes, tossing once or twice to cook evenly. 

Step 4

Taste the sprouts for doneness; they should be firm but not crunchy. Mix the bacon with the hot sprouts, salt, and pepper, and serve immediately.
