Ground Turkey Tacos Recipe

The greatest ground turkey tacos with crunchy cabbage slaw, creamy avocado, and wonderfully seasoned meat. These quick tacos make weeknight meals amazing! 

– 1 Tbsp avocado oil – ½ yellow onion finely chopped – 1 red bell pepper diced – 1 pound lean ground turkey – 4 cloves garlic – 2 Tbsp chili powder – ½ cup chicken broth* – 1 4-oz can diced green chili – 1 tsp sea salt to taste Cabbage Slaw: – 2 cups red cabbage thinly sliced – 2 Tbsp fresh lime juice – ½ tsp sea salt to taste For Serving: – Corn tortilla – Avocado – Salsa – Sour Cream – Grated cheese – Fresh cilantro

Make cabbage slaw first. Slice the red cabbage thinly and add it to a big bowl with lime juice and salt. Rub lime juice into cabbage with your hands.

Lime juice breaks down cabbage fibres, so let it sit for 10–15 minutes to soften.  Heat avocado oil over medium-high in a big skillet.

I use a 12-inch stainless steel skillet, although nonstick or cast iron work too. Cook the onion and diced bell pepper for 3–5 minutes, stirring periodically, until softened.

Break the ground turkey, garlic, chilli powder, and salt into small bits in the skillet with a spatula. Add broth and diced green chilies and stir.

Stir mixture occasionally as it boils until the sauce thickens and the ground turkey is cooked thoroughly, around 10–15 minutes.

Heat corn tortillas and prepare ingredients for tacos. Spread ground turkey, salsa, sour cream, grated cheese, cubed avocado, and fresh cilantro on tortillas.
