Perfectly cooked Baked Halibut with garlic and butter makes a great main dish! This foolproof method cooks tender, juicy halibut every time!
INGREDIENT
– 1 to 1.5 lbs halibut cut into individual filet– 4 to 6 Tbsp butter*– 4 large cloves garlic minced– 1 tsp onion powder– ½ tsp sea salt to taste– ¼ tsp black pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400F. After melting butter in a small bowl in the microwave, add minced garlic. The garlic can be sautéed in melted butter in a small saucepan or skillet on the stove.
Step 1
INSTRUCTIONS
Spray a casserole or sheet pan with oil. Take the fillets out of the packaging and dry them with a paper towel. Place halibut in baking dish. Drizzle garlic butter over halibut fillets.
Step 2
For 1 pound of halibut, use 2 tablespoons of garlic butter. Wait to drizzle the remaining garlic butter on the cooked halibut.
Step 3
Spread the butter mixture over the full fillets with my hands to cover the flesh. Season with onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper.
Step 4
Bake smaller fillets at 400 for 8 minutes and larger ones for 10. A thermometer (see temperature guide) can measure fish internal temperature.
Step 5
To get a crispy top on uncooked halibut, broil on high for 2–6 minutes, depending on fillet size.
Step 6
Remove halibut from oven. Pour the remaining garlic butter mixture over the halibut or serve it for dipping.
Step 7
I like lemon zest and parmesan on halibut. Enjoy halibut with your choice of sides and white wine!
