Ingredient
– 1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) salted butter– 1/2 cup maple syrup– 1 cup brown sugar– 2 eggs– 1-2 tablespoons vanilla extract (I always use 2)– 2 cups all-purpose flour– 1 teaspoon baking powder– 1-2 tablespoons instant espresso or coffee powder– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt– 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips– Flaky sea salt (optional)

Heat the oven to 350°F. For a 9x13 baking dish, use parchment paper.

Heat butter in a medium pot. Brown the butter for 2-3 minutes till it smells toasted. Stir in brown sugar and maple syrup after removing from heat. Let cool 5 minutes.

Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder, espresso/coffee powder, and salt. Just blend. Mix in chocolate chips.

Press/spread dough in dish. Bake till centre is just set, 18-22 minutes. Season with sea salt. Cut and eat bars!
