Brown Butter Blondies Recipe

Brown Butter Blondies are even better because they have nutty, tasty brown butter, toffee, and nuts in them.

INGREDIENT

– 1 & 1/4 cups (282g) unsalted butter – 2 & 1/4 cups (270g) all-purpose flour – 1 & 1/2 teaspoons baking powder – 1 & 1/2 teaspoons salt – 2 cups (400g) firmly packed light brown sugar – 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar – 3 large egg – 2 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 1 cup chopped cashews or other nuts (pecans, hazelnuts, almonds, etc.) – 1 cup toffee bit

Cook butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until brown specks form beneath the foaming butter.

Step 1

INSTRUCTIONS

The butter will smell nutty and foam less. Transfer the butter to a large mixing bowl to cool until warm but not hot.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9"x 13"x 2" baking pan. Place parchment paper on the pan and lightly grease it.

Step 3

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Mix brown and granulated sugar with cooled butter. Mix well.

Step 4

Add eggs. Beat until light and fluffy with a medium-speed electric mixer. Mix in vanilla.

Step 5

Slow mixer speed to low and add flour mixture in three parts, mixing just until combined. Mix cashews and toffee bits (or other ingredients).

Step 6

Place batter in pan and spread evenly. Bake 35–40 minutes until a pick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cut the bars after cooling them completely in the pan on a wire rack.
