Baked Mac And Cheese

This simple homemade Baked Mac and Cheese is the ultimate comfort food. Creamy macaroni with the best cheese sauce. Soul food and crowd-pleaser! 

– 2½ cups elbow macaroni  – 4 tablespoons butter – 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour – ½ teaspoon salt – ¼ teaspoon pepper – 3 cups milk  – 2 cups provolone cheese – 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese  – 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce – ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Set oven temperature to 350°F. As directed on the package, boil the macaroni, then drain and set aside.

While the pasta cooks, place a large ovenproof skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat and melt the butter.

After the butter melts, whisk in the flour and cook, stirring, for one to two minutes, or until the mixture starts to brown slightly.

This will take away the flour's raw flavour. Add the pepper and salt and whisk. To get rid of lumps, whisk in the milk.

Either add it all at once or add it in small amounts while whisking it vigorously until it is completely smooth.

Whisk in half of the cheddar cheese and the provolone cheese until smooth. Mix thoroughly after adding the Worcestershire sauce.

Check seasoning and make adjustments. Cook for 5 minutes over medium-high heat until the sauce thickens and bubbles.

Switch off the heating source. When the macaroni is cooked, add it to the skillet and stir everything together.

Place the remaining cheddar cheese on top and then scatter the smoked paprika over it.

After placing the skillet in the oven, bake it for fifteen minutes, or until the sauce begins to bubble and brown on top. While still warm, serve.
