Apple Cider Doughnut Cookies Recipe

Great Apple Cider Doughnut Cookies with all our favorite tastes! Browned butter, autumn spices, luscious brown sugar, apple butter, and oats in chocolate chip cookies. Classic cookies benefit from apples, cinnamon, and melty chocolate.  

– 2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter – 1 cup brown sugar – 2 tablespoons maple syrup – 1/3 cup apple butter – 2 large egg – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 2 cups all-purpose flour – 2 cups old fashioned oat – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger – 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom – 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg – 1/8 teaspoon all-spice – 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt – 2 cups chocolate chunks or chip – CINNAMON SUGAR – 1/2 cup granulated sugar – 1 tablespoon cinnamon – 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted

Heat the oven to 350°F. Parchment a baking sheet.

Add butter to a medium-heat skillet. Cook until butter browns, 3–4 minutes. Off the heat and into a heatproof bowl.

Off the heat and into a heatproof bowl. Allow 5 minutes to cool. Mix brown sugar, maple syrup, apple butter, eggs, and vanilla into brown butter until smooth.

Add flour, oats, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Chocolate should be gently folded. Allow the dough to set for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Place spherical tablespoon-sized dough balls 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Softly flatten the dough. Bake 8 minutes.

Step 5

Rotate and press the baking sheet 1-2 times to flatten after removing from the oven. Bake another 2-3 minutes until the edges of the cookies are barely setting.

Step 6

Combine cinnamon and sugar. Lightly brush melted butter on each cookie and sprinkle cinnamon sugar. Leave cookies on baking sheet to cool.

Step 7

While on the baking pan, they will cook slightly. Eat warm (preferred) or chill and keep in an airtight jar for 4 days.
